I have shaped the industrial commissions into this section, as the asme principles and possiblities exist as anything Pop 🤗. Imagine walking past a painting every day that was commissioned by you... or commissioned for you as a gift. A painting built around your favourite people, places, memories and dreams. A painting about your family, the places you've travelled, the movies you've watched together... whatever matters most to you.

To me, that's the real magic of a personalised Pop commission. It's far more than just artwork on a wall. It becomes part of your home and, over time, part of your family's story. Unlike a photograph, it isn't trying to capture one moment—it captures a lifetime of moments. I've even created commissions that became vision boards, filled with dreams, goals and experiences people hoped to achieve over the years. They're incredible to stand in front of because every little detail means something, and every time you look at them you discover another memory. ❤️

Ok, hold me back! I'm excited! 😁❤️ I love Pop! Every conversation is completely different, and very often it's a special commission as a gift for a loved one. They might want a home theatre masterpiece built around their favourite movies 🎬, another wants music, travel, family memories and inside jokes all layered together. Someone else wants a wall-sized celebration of everything they've loved over the last fifty years. Every commission becomes its own visual story. 💥

The easiest place to begin is usually by browsing my available and sold Pop Art collections. Most clients naturally find themselves drawn towards particular paintings or Pop layouts, and that's the perfect starting point. It's often easier to show me a few pieces and say, "This is the vibe I'm chasing." From there we can discuss size, orientation and colour while creating something that's completely unique to you. 💯 I've even had clients do 90% of the heavy lifting and send me concepts created in AI. 🤖

One of my favourite parts of the process is hearing about all the little details you'd like woven throughout the artwork. Favourite movies, songs, books, sporting teams, family members, pets, travel destinations, businesses, childhood memories or simply things that make you smile. Those little references are what transform a painting into something that's uniquely yours.

Not every Pop commission has to be packed with hundreds of details either. Some people prefer the cleaner, more refined feel of the Classic Pop series, where a single character or strong central figure becomes the hero of the painting. Others choose to become part of the artwork themselves, or have their loved one as the central character—I've painted clients as cowgirls 🤠, superheroes 🦸, astronauts 🚀, racing drivers 🏁 and even placed them into shopping scenes and completely imagined worlds. Whether it's a family portrait disguised as superheroes, a personalised Space Cadet or an entirely new concept, I'm always excited to hear the ideas people come up with. ⚡

Whether your idea is loud, nostalgic, sentimental or completely ridiculous... bring it on! 😆 Those are usually the commissions I enjoy the most.

These pieces are the hardest to describe as they cover such a wide range of commissions. At one end of the spectrum are many of the familiar Franko subjects that appear throughout my collections... Geishas, Native Americans, warriors, heroines, Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix, James Dean and other iconic figures. While many of these are available to purchase as completed originals, they're also regularly commissioned in different sizes, colours or formats to suit a particular home or space. 🎨

At the other end are the personal commissions. ❤️

Sometimes it's a funky puppy who rules the house. 🐶 Sometimes it's a much-loved parent, a grandparent, children, or a collection of family photos that span generations. I've even been asked to combine pictures taken almost a century apart into a series... tiny black-and-white snapshots from the early 1900s sitting alongside digital photos taken yesterday, and grainy Polaroid-quality images from the 1970s. Weirdly, the early 1900s images are sometimes the better ones! 😆

That's where experience has taught me that the approach becomes just as important as the painting itself.

I've learned that not every image wants to become the same style of painting. One approach might suit Marilyn perfectly because everyone already knows what Marilyn looks like. You can push the colours, exaggerate the features, paint outside the lines... and really have fun with it. 💥

A painting of a real client, however, often comes with a different set of expectations.

If I treated every client's face exactly the same way I treat Marilyn or Hendrix, there's a pretty good chance they'd look at it and say, "That doesn't actually look like me... or him... or her." That's obviously not the goal.

Every commission becomes a balancing act between remaining unmistakably a Franko while still respecting the person, pet or memory that's at the centre of the painting. Sometimes the answer is bold and colourful. Sometimes it's softer. Sometimes it's highly textured. But it's always the combination of the image, the painting and its purpose that determines where the final artwork should head.

The pics clients provide are often far from perfect as well. Old faded prints, tiny phone photos, damaged images or pictures taken decades apart all present their own challenges. Part of my job is bringing those very different reference images together into something that feels cohesive rather than looking like several unrelated photos sharing the same canvas. One of the trickiest requests is when a client provides a photo with a closed mouth but wants the subject smiling, or asks for the face to be turned slightly. Those tiny changes can completely alter someone's appearance and are surprisingly difficult to get right. 😅

Whether the subject is a legendary icon, a faithful old dog, a much-loved family member or someone who now only exists in a handful of fading photos, the goal is always exactly the same... to create something that captures far more than simply their appearance. ❤️ View currently available pieces People|Animals|Landscapes Collection.

It's completely up to you, but I often say that adding a floating oak frame is like putting a beautiful piece of furniture around the painting. 🖼️ It gives the artwork a more finished, architectural feel and helps it sit beautifully within the room.

Some clients simply prefer the clean look of an unframed canvas, while others choose to leave framing out because of the budget. Both options look great, so there's certainly no pressure either way.

Around 95% of the framed pieces that leave my studio are finished with handcrafted floating oak frames, made in-house and available in Natural Oak, Black Oak and White Oak. If you'd like something a little more special, I also offer an engraved frame edge that can incorporate words, logos... pretty much anything really. It takes considerably longer to produce, but the finished result looks fantastic. Every now and then I'll even finish a Pop Art commission with an ornate moulding frame when the artwork calls for a little extra cheesy coolness. 😆
